Open Access Policy
The Algerian Journal of Orthodontics (AJO) adopts an Open Access Policy based on international principles of open dissemination of scientific knowledge.

Article 1 — General Principles
- The AJO ensures free and immediate online access to all its publications, in accordance with the spirit of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI).
- The AJO recognizes that scientific knowledge constitutes a public good, the broad dissemination of which favors academic, clinical, and societal progress.
- The journal contributes to the visibility, valuation, and dissemination of orthodontic research by allowing open access to published works.
- Open access to articles increases scientific impact and facilitates their use by the clinical, academic, and research communities.
- The AJO also aims to guarantee the preservation, archiving, and traceability of its publications on recognized indexing platforms.

Article 2 — Definitions
- Publication: Peer-reviewed scientific article published in the AJO (reviews, clinical studies, original research, short communications, clinical cases).
- Author: Any practitioner, teacher, researcher, or expert who has submitted and published a manuscript in the AJO.
- Open Access License: The AJO distributes its content under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0), allowing use, distribution, and reproduction with correct attribution.
- Digital Copy: Final version of the manuscript published online, including the official PDF.
- Metadata: Descriptive information of articles (title, authors, affiliations, abstract, keywords).

Article 3 — Open Access Policy
- All articles published in the AJO are freely accessible, without charge to readers, immediately upon their online publication.
- Published content is available under the CC BY 4.0 license, authorizing:
- reading,
- copying,
- distribution,
- reproduction,
- use,
- No embargo is applied: access is immediate.
- The AJO charges no submission, evaluation, or publication fees.
- Authors retain their copyright and grant the journal a non-exclusive right of publication.
- The AJO encourages the depositing of articles in open repositories (DOAJ, HAL, PubMed Central if eligible) when they respect the conditions of the license used.
- The journal promotes transparency and encourages, where possible, the sharing of research data associated with publications, in compliance with ethical standards.

Article 4 — Support and Implementation
The AJO :
- Raises awareness among its authors regarding Open Access practices and the benefits of publishing under the CC BY 4.0 license.
- Ensures compliance control with Open Access principles for all published articles.
- Maintains the necessary digital infrastructure to guarantee sustainable access, international indexing, and interoperability with scientific search engines (Google Scholar, CrossRef, etc.).
